REMEMBER OUR HEROS

Next Monday, May 25th is Memorial Day - a time for us to honor and celebrate all the brave men and women of our armed services who laid their lives down for our country and our freedom.

Stay Strong Nation is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring the men and women who have served our nation in combat, bringing awareness to the often unrecognized Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and promoting proper treatment and care for our heroes. With the release of the song "Stay Strong," they ask all Americans alike to give their support to our soldiers in combat regardless of their political views. PTSD affects many men and women who serve in our military who lived through traumatic experiences, and many of them come home to people who don't recognize their need for help or treatment.

This summer, on July 10th, Stay Strong Nation is organizing an event called Climb Strong, which is centered around a climb to the peak of Mount Fuji, Japan to benefit our service men and women.

StayStrongNation.org has also formally submitted a National Proclamation to the White House detailing the creation of National PTSD Awareness Week, beginning this year on Saturday, November 7th, which would include Veterans Day on Wednesday the 11th.

This Memorial Day Weekend, show your support for our troops, and help our nation to stay strong together!

Best,
Michael

American Idol and swine flu
Even "American Idols" are not exempted from swine flu checks. Philippine health authorities had to chase down David Cook and David Archuleta, the winner and the runner-up of last season's TV singing contest, to have them fill out a health checklist and report their temperatures at least twice a day before their open-air concert Saturday in the Philippines!

World Famous Pianist makes the Time 100-People of the Year
Classical pianist sensation Lang Lang made Time’s Top 100 People of the Year list, under Artists and Entertainers.
Lang, 26, has been playing the piano since he was 2 or 3 years old, and apparently he got turned on to it watching Tom and Jerry cartoons in China. When he's just messing around — which he does a lot — he'll play comic riffs that sound like they're from cartoon music. He is touring this summer with Herbie Hancock.

HOW TO STAY YOUNG

1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay 'them'

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning.Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.' And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen..Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Over the last few weeks and months there has been an explosion in the interest and use of Twitter. This micro blogging phenomenon has swept the online world, and it's official - Tweeting is the new coolest thing.

As I have been working with clients to leverage this new phenomenon in social networking, it has reminded me of a simple, yet fundamental marketing truth: It is the message, not necessarily the medium that counts in the end.

We recommend that our clients focus on their message, and view channels such as Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and even old-fashioned email communication as open doors to reach out to their audiences. It is easy to get caught up in the hype of the latest blogging tool and risk possibly missing a core audience that may actually prefer to receive a message via email, text, or directly from your website.

Communicating Your Message Consistently Across Multiple Media Platforms

As this image shows, it is important to put the message at the center of your communication, and then focus on spreading it over the different channels. You don't want to start out Tweeting just because it seems like everyone else is doing it. Instead, it is important to first focus on what you want to say, then communicate it across a variety of channels in order to reach your maximum audience.

Messaging DOs and DON'Ts

DO
-Have a goal in mind.
-Be consistent. Your message and tone should fit your brand.
-Have a call to action for the recipient.
-Create dialogue and be prepared to answer.
-Have a way to measure success.

DON'T
-Ignore an audience by only sending your message through a single channel.
-Tweet without a goal in mind.
-Bounce from channel to channel. Be patient, building an audience takes time.
